Operation Sukama Sakhe: Ndwedwe

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa, has urged built environment constructors and civil engineers to ensure that their projects are completed on time. kaMadlopha-Mthethwa was speaking at a Disaster Management Centre construction site located at Ndwedwe CBD during a site visit as part of Operation Sukuma Sakhe led by the KwaZulu-Natal Cabinet. She said she was hopeful that the government will do all to minimise financial constraints despite some challenges posed by delays.

The site visit included the Ndwedwe Town Development project, earmarked for the building of a shopping mall. Currently, civil engineers and constructors are building infrastructure such as roads and storm water drainage systems.

MEC kaMadlopha-Mthethwa also conducted a site visit to Nombika Secondary, where work is underway to transform the secondary school into a fully-fledged technical college. The R52 million project is expected to be completed within 24 months. Government officials also encouraged the school management to enhance its gardening services, with commitments from the MEC to help transform the school's agricultural outlook as part of One School One Garden programme.
