The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma, officially opened the 56th Annual Conference of the South African Society for Agricultural Extension (SASAE) at the University of Zululand in Richard's Bay on Tuesday, 29 August 2023.

MEC Zuma further went on to engage with livestock farmers in the Debe area, Mthonjaneni Local Municipality, to deliberate and discuss challenges and agricultural opportunities to enhance food security in the area.

During the engagement, farmers raised a number of issues, including a high mortality rate due to numerous diseases and water scarcity in the area. 

In response to some of the concerns, MEC Zuma assured livestock farmers that Animal Healthcare Specialists and State Vets will be deployed in the area to ensure that some of the challenges are addressed and all possible opportunities are explored.
