KwaZulu-Natal MEC for the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Super Zuma has urged graduates to roll up their sleeves and join the agricultural sector to mitigate the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment, and inequality in the Province.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony MEC Zuma said, "the Province and Country as a whole is facing a spike in food prices as well as load-shedding which affects agricultural production, these skills and expertise will help these graduates and the sector mitigate challenges” - said, MEC Zuma.

Through the Unemployed Graduate Programme, the department aims to assist graduates to gain practical experience, learning more knowledge from elderly farmers, and implementing modern agricultural methods.

“With these diplomas you will now venture into different streams within the sector, some of you will run sustainable farms as they are educationally equipped this will also create employment opportunities. Others will be admitted into the Unemployed Graduate Programme where they will put into practice modern technology while they gain indigenous agricultural knowledge"- said MEC Super Zuma.
