The MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma visited the area of Mbazwana in UMkhanyakude District, northern part of KwaZulu-Natal.

This visit came after a Special Cabinet resolution held on Saturday, 29 April 2023.

This resolution saw all KZN MEC’s visit their Championship Districts in a mission to conduct oversight visits in schools for the School Nutrition programme.

MEC Super Zuma visited four (04) schools namely:

• Mdinwa Primary School
• Malabela High School
• Inkosi Zwelakhe Ngwane Secondary School
• Qomukuphila Primary School

The MEC held sessions with the school management and deployed officials to further understand challenges and possible mitigation strategies to curb food insecurity in the learning facilities. He indicated that they are ready to continue with the school nutrition programme for a period of two weeks according food available at the disposal.

MEC Super Zuma further discussed the importance of One School One Garden as a tool to alleviate poverty and generate income for the schools. He reiterated the importance having fresh food and vegetables at all times.

Throughout this upcoming week, deployed officials from different Government Departments will be visiting schools to ensure the success of the School Nutrition Programme.
