MEC meets with management of Ugu and eThekwini districts

KWAZULU-NATAL MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Mrs Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi has today met Ugu and eThekwini Districts Management to establish if there are challenges in the districts that are hindering poverty alleviation in order to intervene and provide necessary support.

This is part of the MEC’s drive to ensure that all districts and local offices work like an oiled machine in the provision of service delivery to the communities of KwaZulu-Natal. She also alerted the officials in these offices about the upcoming launch of the Multi planting season on the 13th of September 2019.

The purpose of these meetings, the MEC said, is to channel the focus of all the districts and local offices into one direction for efficiency of service delivery. The month of September marks the significance of the Food Security month as part of the provincial initiatives designed to help eradicate poverty and eliminate food insecurity especially in the rural areas of the province. In response to high levels of food insecurity, land under-utilization and low productivity, the department developed a multi-planting season programme. These engagements are on a continues basis and once all the offices have concluded their presentations, the work will commence immediately.
