Purpose

Programmes
•Livestock programme
•Food Security - Poverty Eradication Operation Phakisa
•Extension Recovery Programme – Provision of ICT support tools, Digital Pen support, Co-ordination of Skills Development and Training, Improve Image and professionalism of Extension, Improve Visibility and Accountability

Goals and Objectives Manage the development of crop, livestock and aquaculture production programmes: •Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of crop, livestock and aquaculture production programmes
•Develop new and improve existing crop, livestock and aquaculture programs
•Coordinate the in-house training of staff on the new programmes
•Develop monitoring and evaluation templates for the programmes
•Participate in the cross functional approach to agricultural development (Provincial Steering Committee)

Manage the provision of extension methodology services:
•Manage the development and implementation of extension programmes
•Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of extension methods
•Manage the development and dissemination of extension training

Manage the coordination and reporting of agricultural interventions:
•Manage and coordinate the implementation of the food security interventions
•Manage and coordinate the implementation of land reform programmes
•Manage and coordinate youth, woman and disability interventions
•Manage and coordinate other agricultural interventions (i.e. mechanisation, extension recovery etc.)

Manage the development and implementation of policies:
•Manage the implementation of National, Provincial and Departmental frameworks
•Manage the implementation of policies according to agreed norms and standards
•Monitor and evaluate compliance with implemented policies
•Report on any discrepancies regarding compliance to all relevant stakeholders
•Review and amend policies as and when required based on input from stakeholders
