Following the farmers engagement in Hlathikhulu, Ward 11, on 07 December 2023, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Super Zuma, visited five (5) household gardens that are part of the Departmental "One Home, One Garden" programme in Hlathikhulu, Estcourt.

During the engagement, the community raised a number of issues which the Hon. MEC committed to return and provide responses. 

In efforts to fast-track service delivery and improve the lives of farmers in the province, Hon. MEC Super Zuma handed over conventional tillage implements to three (3) projects based in the Loskop area on Monday, 11 December 2023.

The farming equipment received by the beneficiaries was 4xMBLI planters, 10 knapsack sprayers, 600L boom sprayers, and a 1x4 row planter.

Speaking ahead of the handover event, MEC Zuma said the provision of machinery and farming implements to farmers is part of the Department’s commitment to assisting small-scale farmers in transitioning to a commercial level.

"We want to ensure that we provide support to small-scale farmers and also target youth farmers. The equipment will help farmers, especially youth involved in agriculture, to maximise their profits and stimulate food security and economic growth in the province.
