KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Mrs. Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi visited the Makhathini Research Station and Mjindi Nursery to assess the state of readiness in preparation for the 2022/23 Multi-Planting Season.

In response to the struggles faced by rural communities which are further aggravated by insufficient operational resources, the Department has intervened with seed multiplication and the establishment of mega nurseries. This is to help subsistence farmers integrate into the Province's agricultural market. The official launch of the Multi-Planting Season will take place on 11 October 2022 at Mlamulankuzi Sports Ground, Kwa-Machi, Ward 8.
