In response to a number of challenges faced by community members in Obuka Village, MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi and her counterpart, MEC for Department of Social Development, Mrs Nonhlanhla Khoza, visited Obuka Village in Ward 12, Mthonjaneni as part of Operation Sigalelekile to accelerate service delivery in the area.
People in the area came out in numbers showing their eagerness to see development within their community. The MECs’ brought a variety of services to the community, including applications for Home Affairs Smart ID's, SASSA services, access to health services and exposed residents to opportunities aimed at changing their lives through job creation. Furthermore, the MECs' handed-over 200 social relief packages and farming implements to people in the community.
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Mrs Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi, encouraged people to participate in agriculture in order to eradicate poverty and ensure food security within the area.
MEC Mrs Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi also urged farmers and other livestock owners to adhere to the 21-days ban to stop the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease.
