National Extension And Advisory Services Summit


Close to 1000 agricultural extensions officers gathered at the Durban Exhibition Centre when the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development hosted its first KZN Extension and Advisory Services Summit and Gala Dinner that took place on 27 February 2020.

KZN DARD MEC, Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi, addressing the delegates at the beginning of the first KZN Extension and Advisory Services Summit held at the Durban Exhibition Centre on 27 February 2020.



KZN Premier, Sihle Zikalala, at the opening the summit told the delegates that DARD has no choice but to become productive and he also stressed the importance of evolving and staying relevant with current technology of the fourth industrial revolution in order to usher in the desired agrarian revolution.

Maphumulo from the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) with some of the agricultural extension and advisory officer at the KZN Extension and Advisory Services Summit held at Durban Exhibition Centre.



Mzinyathi District’s agricultural advisor, Ms N Vilakazi together with TM Mvelase from Zululand District are among a number of advisor’s that earned top honours as they received gold awards, a certificates and a R30 000 cheques for their sterling extension and advisory work together in their respective districts.

Retired Mzimkhulu local manager, Mr  B.H Zondo received MEC Special Awards and a R20 000 in recognition of his long service and sterling work during his years of service at the DARD. Others that were acknowledged together with Zondo were Phumeza Garane and D Phoseka
