MEC Meeting With Farm Workers – Centenary Hall

KWAZULU-NATAL MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Mrs Bongi Sithole-Moloi has made a clarion call to Department workers to ensure that the Department’s vision for an inclusive, sustainable and radically transformed agricultural sector is realised. The MEC was addressing farm workers at the Cedara Agricultural College on Monday, 01 July 2019. MEC Sithole-Moloi had called the meeting with workforces to introduce herself and to listen to their challenges in order to improve labour relations in the Department.

“The workplace should be conducive for workers to thrive…as leaders that’s what we will strive to achieve by improving material conditions for the workers to take the Department forward,” said the MEC. “We appreciate you very much. I’m here today to give you hope that whatever challenges you are facing will be sorted out so that you can effectively carry out your duties.” Sithole-Moloi appealed to management to ensure that farm workers get protective clothing they’ve been requesting for so long. “Let’s have Ubuntu in everything we do. Let’s treat our workers as human beings and ensure that they are safe and happy in their places of work.”
