Key concerns such as gender-based violence, bureaucratic challenges in establishing agribusinesses, patriarchal attitudes and pull-her-down syndrome dominated the agenda of the 2025 Hybrid Women's Parliament programme on Friday, 08 August 2025 at the Inkosi Mzondeni Civic Centre in KwaMsane Township, Mtubatuba.
Addressing the 2025 Women's Parliament Resolutions on agriculture, KwaZulu-Natal Premier TA Ntuli announced that women in aquaculture would receive facilitation from the provincial Department of Agriculture to obtain fishing permits from the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
During the programme, Departmental MEC Ms Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa highlighted her Department's programmes aimed at improving women's lives, saying, "Women and youth-led initiatives, including cooperatives, are prioritised. We encourage women to establish agribusinesses. In the recent Budget Speech, we announced that we will unlock market opportunities and increase historically disadvantaged farmers' market access, with a focus on women, youth, and farmers with disabilities."
She has called on women to rise above their challenges and be counted in nation-building efforts.
