The MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development continued to promote equitable access to agricultural resources for previously disadvantaged farmers across the Province on Monday, the 10^th February 2024.

During a dialogue session held at the KZNDARD Departmental District office in Ulundi, farmers highlighted several challenges impeding their progress, including uncontrolled fires, limited funding opportunities, inadequate agricultural advisory services, insufficient dam infrastructure and cattle mortality. Numerous farmers expressed their appreciation for the Department's project funding initiatives, noting the potential to access essential financial support.

Addressing farmers, kaMadlopha-Mthethwa acknowledged the widespread concerns regarding the absence and ineffectiveness of agricultural advisors. She emphasized the need for advisors to be assigned to every Ward, providing vital support to local communities.

As part of the Five-year Strategic Plan, the Department prioritized the provision of dipping chemicals, ensuring that all 2,600 dip tanks in KZN are adequately equipped with necessary chemicals and vaccines. Furthermore, personnel will be assigned to oversee the functionality of dip-tanks. Mechanization and food security remain top priorities, with a focus on promoting the concept of One Home, One Garden.
