KZN Agriculture MEC Madlopha-Mthethwa was part of the momentous and historic occasion at the King Shaka International Airport in La Mercy, north of Durban, where the statue of the erstwhile AmaZulu King Shaka was unveiled.
The international airport was named after the AmaZulu King who reigned from 1816 to 1828. The unveiling of the larger-than-life statue recognizes King Shaka's rich legacy and seeks to preserve his heritage and memory. President Cyril Ramaphosa, AmaZulu King MisuZulu and KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli officiated the unveiling ceremony, attended by thousands of attendees including Ministers, MECs, Amakhosi, izinduna, the Royal Family, maidens and omama besiVivane.
