Following the devastating veld fires that had scorched major parts of KwaZulu-Natal, KZN DARD Hon. MEC Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa embarked on a District rollout to hand over livestock hay bales to the Loskop community in uThukela District Municipality on Friday, 19 July 2024. This rollout seeks to forge a way forward and find solutions to the destructive aftermath caused by this natural disaster. 

The recent veld fires have resulted in devastating losses of livestock, grazing pastures, infrastructure, crops and most tragically, human lives. 

As part of the veld fires intervention, Hon. MEC Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa handed over 143 hay bales to the uThukela Livestock Association. 

MEC Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa urged farmers to work hand-in-hand with the Department to rehabilitate the farming sector.
