The MEC for KwaZulu-Natal Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma, visited KwaSwayimane on Thursday 02 May 2024 as part of the MEC delegation on Imbizo in uMgungundlovu District.
As part of Operation Siyahlola, MEC Super Zuma kicked off his mission by observing the construction of a dip tank which the Department is currently constructing as part of its food security initiatives.
The dip-tank is intended to improve the livestock in the area by protecting them from communicable diseases that may affect them.
MEC Super Zuma further proceeded to visit (3) household gardens that are part of the Departmental "One Home, One Garden" programme in KwaSwayimane.
MEC Zuma remarked that he was overwhelmed to see individuals in the community joining forces with the Department to combat poverty.
I am pleased that many residents are collaborating with the Department to alleviate poverty. As a Department, we will support communities with all the necessities required, we will fight to ensure that no one gets left behind and that nutritious food is affordable and available to our people, given that we are challenged on this front by inflation in food costs" said MEC Zuma.
