The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, led by MEC Super Zuma together with Mrs. NI Vilakazi, Head of Department for Social Development, embarked on Operation Sukuma Sakhe in the eThekwini Metro on 06 March 2024.

MEC Zuma kicked off the proceedings by conducting Operation Siyahlola in Cliffdale Ward 103, eThekwini Metro. The site inspection was intended to examine the progress made on a high school construction project and to determine a revised completion timeline.

The MEC and his entourage further proceeded to hand over farming implements, seeds and fencing materials to a project that produces vegetables in Cliffdale.

MEC Zuma then went on to hand over a new house to the Dladla family in KwaNyuswa.  MEC Super Zuma re-enforced that the government is committed to improving people's lives and ensuring that every individual and family in KwaZulu-Natal has access to adequate housing.

MEC Zuma also paid a visit to the Ikhethelo Child and Youth Care Centre to assess the Centre’s functionality as well as its adherence to standards and guidelines set by the Department of Social Development. 

The Centre provides shelter and ensures support is given to all children who are orphaned or abandoned.  

MEC Zuma subsequently went to Don Mckenzie Sports Field at Valley Trust where he engaged with the community on obstacles they face on a day-to-day basis and sought remedial action with all sister Departments for the issues raised by the community.
