Hon. MEC Super Zuma hosted a farmer’s engagement in the Njomelwane area in November 2023 where farmers had the opportunity to engage with the MEC and raise concerns around the challenges that they experienced on a regular basis. Some of the major concerns highlighted were around the issue of water scarcity for livestock consumption, irrigation of fields and lack of farming implements. 

Hon. MEC Super Zuma honoured his word on Friday, 02 February 2024, when he visited Cathulani and Sizakancane farming projects to handover farming implements, seeds, water tanks and fencing materials. Both these cooperatives produce vegetables to supply to local markets.

MEC Super Zuma stated that the Department is working tirelessly to help small-scale farmers in the Province benefit from the “big agriculture value chain.”

"I believe that the potential that small-scale farmers possess, if given sufficient support, will ensure they play an essential part in food provision in the Province, thereby ensuring food security for all and more importantly, creating job opportunities for our people," Zuma said.
