On Thursday, 16 November 2023, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma together with MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Mr. Sipho "KK" Nkosi, embarked on Operation Siyahlola at the Cedara College of Agriculture.

This was a quick retort by the Department in response to concerns raised by parents and students in December about accommodation challenges students were experiencing.

MEC Super Zuma expressed fulfilment with the project's progress, stating that the residence will now meet the demand for student accommodation that is conducive to living and learning.

"I am very happy that students will now have a proper residence because we all know how far many of our students have to travel to attend. This is especially important given that our students' real-life circumstances have a direct impact on their academic progress. This is why it is critical to have access to an affordable, safe and functional residence" said MEC Zuma.
