In efforts to fast-track service delivery and create awareness of the triple threat challenges which are poverty, inequality and unemployment in the province, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma, visited five (05) household gardens in Ward 13, under King Cetshwayo District. 

This engagement was a follow-up from the initial gathering that took place on September 08, where issues such as a lack of farming implements, seedlings, market access and rural livestock healthcare were the main concerns of the farming community. 

"We are here to address farmers and the community at large about the robust strategies the Department has put in place to eradicate the triple threat challenges that threaten the sustainability of many livelihoods in our rural communities.

Today we are pleased to announce that we have acquired two hectares of land from Inkosi Dube. This land will be used for agricultural purposes to uplift youth and women in this area.

After launching the uMnotho kuBantu programme, market access will no longer affect our communal farmers" said MEC Zuma.

Furthermore, the Hon. MEC handed over two (02) Brahman bulls to communal livestock farmers at the Ndeshseni Sports Field. This aims to bridge the gap of inequality between commercial and emerging commercial livestock farmers. The primary focus was to assist households in producing enough food to meet basic food security needs. Seeds and garden implements were also handed over to farmers.
