The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma, on Sunday, 06 August 2023 kicked-off preparations for the upcoming Planting Season with a potato research trail demonstration in Impendle, UMgungundlovu District.

Through Research and Technology Development, the Department has a Memorandum of Understanding with Potato S.A, a leading agriculture corporate, to undertake research on potato seed varieties and cultivars before they are supplied to farmers. These trails also seek to transform small-holder potato growers to a commercial level.

MEC Super Zuma noted that the fertile land of KwaZulu-Natal has huge potential to lead our country in an agrarian revolution, and that as the Planting season approaches, all citizens must participate in agricultural activities in order to eradicate poverty and secure food security in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
