The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Hon. MEC Super Zuma together with the MEC for Public Works and Human Settlements, Mr. K.K. Nkosi, officially handed over eNtembeni Dam in Phobane under the Mthonjaneni Local Municipality.

This dam plays a significant role in serving residents to help feed livestock and for irrigation of fields. The Hon. MEC then proceeded to eDubeni to intensify a vaccination drive of livestock, dogs and cats in the area.

As part of the Communal Beef Improvement Programme, MEC Zuma also handed over two (2) Bonsmara bulls to the Local Livestock Association. This is in a quest to improve the quality of livestock and to also boost red meat production in the Province.

The Department has identified the red meat cluster as one of the agricultural sector pillars towards the growth and development of the provincial economy.

MEC Super Zuma further went on to interact with the community members, to create awareness on Departmental programmes and to further understand some of the challenges faced by these communities at service delivery level.

The One Home, One Garden initiative continues with the Department as MEC Super Zuma handed over farming implements and seedlings to farmers in order to improve food security and eradicate poverty in the Province.
