OVER 400 YOUTHS TO BENEFIT FROM LEARNERSHIP AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING PROGRAMME WHICH WILL BE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED BY MEC FOR AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT, MR THEMBA MTHEMBU
As part of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development mandate, MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Themba Mthembu, invites you to the official launch of the Learnership and Recognition of Prior Learning Programme which will see over 400 youths get training in the Agricultural sector.
This learnership which is in partnership with AgriSeta and Yikhonolakho Coop is a fully funded programme that will benefit farmers, youth, students from TVET colleges and 100 staff members from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Through this learnership, the Department is a step closer in closing the gap of youth unemployment and will assist in equipping these students with necessary skills of being entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

Provincial Agricultural Summit - 2018
The KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development released an agricultural Master Plan that will serve as a roadmap to unlock socio-economic development in the sector through specific strategic programmes. These programmes should bring about a revolution leading to real transformation in the sector and be able to address the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality that affects mainly youth, women and disabled people.
The Provincial Agricultural Summit 2018, was held in Pietermaritzburg on 15-16 November 2018.

Under the theme “Shaping the future of agriculture in KZN” Premier Mr T.W. Mchunu and MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr T. Mthembu, will host a two-day agricultural summit to ignite economy in KZN.
