Department of Agriculture and Rural Development welcomes the new MEC to the Department.

MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi is not new to government, she is the former MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation in KwaZulu-Natal and is a dedicated political activist who is committed to the total development of KwaZulu-Natal, economically and socially.

MEC Sithole-Moloi played a major role in consolidating the membership of the ANC in the once political violence-ravaged Natal Midlands region in the early 90s. She was one of the trusted organizers and a membership co-ordinator for the ANC. She also served as Mayor of UMgungundlovu District Municipality, Chairperson of the Royal Household Portfolio Committee and Chief Whip for the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal.

She is known for her passion for local government having served many structures that ushered in the local sphere of government shortly after the democratic dispensation.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development would like to thank former MEC Mr Themba Mthembu who has served the Department since 2016.
