Thousands of maidens from across the country, including officials from Eswatini and Mozambique, attended the Royal Reed Dance (uMkhosi woMhlanga) at the Enyokeni Royal Palace in KwaNongoma on the 14th of September 2024. The KZN DARD MEC, Hon. Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa, was among the MECs who honored His Majesty, King Misuzulu KaZwelithini's invitation.
This year's celebration consisted of a multi-layered programme aimed at providing young girls with a variety of skills and career assistance, with the ultimate objective of arming them with the tools they need to deal with social ills impacting the youth.
The ceremony, which marked its 40th anniversary this year, was presided over by His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
