The Human Sciences Research Council report revealed that most of the KwaZulu-Natal northern parts have relatively high levels of access to land, yet they have low participation in household farming activities.

KwaZulu-Natal Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa heeded to some of the recommendations to enhance food security by availing the Department's funding of the cooperatives and individual farmers.
