Top of the agenda tabled at the Lilian Ngoyi Room at the KwaZulu-Natal capital Pietermaritzburg, were the Annual Performance Plan (APP) and the 2024/2025 Budget. A key entity to the Department Agribusiness Development Agency also tabled its budget.

The portfolio committee, inclusive of various political members led by Honourable Super Zuma, commended the work done in the past three years to stabilize the finances of the Department.

Addressing the committee for the first time since her appointment in June, Honourable MEC Madlopha-Mthethwa noted with great interest that the familiar faces that are part of the committee, will make her job of delivering services to the people of the province easy.

MEC Madlopha-Mthethwa said the most important aspect of the committee is to channel their energies in ensuring that service delivery remains their top priority, pointing out key focus areas such as vulnerable groups - women, youth, people living with disabilities as well as poverty eradication.

The Department will again meet with the Portfolio Committee on 13 September 2024 for a gruelling encounter to account.
