In a quest to assist farmers affected by the recent veld fires and strong winds across the Province of KwaZulu-Natal, the National Minister of COGTA, Velenkosini Hlabisa, together with the Deputy Minister Dickson Masemola, KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, and KZNDARD MEC Ms. Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa, engaged with farmers on the 17th of July 2024 to forge a way forward and find solutions to the devastating aftermath caused by this natural disaster.

The recent veld fires have caused catastrophic losses of livestock, grazing pastures, infrastructure, crops and most unfortunate, human lives.

In light of the prevailing excessive heat and multiple veld fires throughout the Province, Hon. MEC Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa is pleading with the farming community to take the required precautions to protect lives, livestock, crops and agricultural infrastructure.
