In commemoration of World AIDS Day, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, led by MEC Super Zuma, visited Nstongeni, Ward 7 under uMkhambathini Local Municipality on Friday, 01 December 2023, to expedite service delivery and promote food security in the province.

MEC Zuma expressed gratitude for the work undertaken by many households in the area and urged those without gardens to get their ploughs out and get their hands dirty in order to feed their families.

"It is time to prioritize food security. As a Department, we want our people to till the soil to produce their own prosperity; by doing so, we will eradicate poverty and ensure food security in KwaZulu-Natal," said Super Zuma.

Hon. MEC Zuma further convened a farmer engagement at Thimoni Primary School. This engagement intends to bring together all farmers within the area, stakeholders and interested developments of Nstongeni involved in all farming aspects, to find solutions to problems plaguing the agricultural sector.
