The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development led by MEC Super Zuma together with Mrs. NI Vilakazi, Head of the Department for Social Development, embarked on Operation Sukuma Sakhe in the Harry Gwala District on Wednesday, 29 November 2023. As part of the proceedings, MEC Zuma kicked off by handing over a new house to the Gebashe family in Ward 20, uMzimkhulu. 

MEC Zuma stated that the government is dedicated to changing people's lives and ensuring that every individual and family in KwaZulu-Natal has access to adequate housing.

The MEC and his entourage further proceeded to Obombo, Ward 15, to inspect the electricity that was being installed in the area.

As part of the One Home One Garden initiative, MEC Zuma also visited crop farmers in Ward 15. This visit was part of witnessing the exceptional work done for youth, women and children in the area. 

The Hon. MEC urged farmers to become more involved in the One Home One Garden initiative which will alleviate poverty and ensure food security in the Province.

MEC Zuma then moved on to the Bombo Community Hall where he engaged with the community about the obstacles they face on a day-to-day basis and sought remedial action with all sister Departments for the issues raised by the community.
