Youth in agricultural sector celebrated

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma visited two youth-owned projects in Inchanga and Mandeni on 23 June 2023. These visits were undertaken to bridge a gap between aging farmers and young farmers in the Agricultural sector.

As part of these visits, the Hon. MEC embarked on a Media Tour to the 1000 Hills Community Helpers Garden Project, which is a 100% Black Youth owned project. This project plays a meaningful role in poverty alleviation, food security and nutrition as it provides approximately 1 200 meals per day to the surrounding community of Inchanga through their feeding scheme programme.

The Hon. MEC further proceeded to a launch of Lunginhlahla Project in Ward 9, Mandeni. This is one of the ADA-funded Projects, which is a 100% Female Youth-owned enterprise that specializes in poultry (broilers) and sugarcane farming. This project has effectively tapped into the market and is contributing to poverty eradication in the province as it has created numerous job opportunities within the Agricultural sector.
